I have always been adamant about reading paperbacks and physical copies only and ebooks were a thing that never appealed to me. However, I got a Kindle, about a year ago and now I can't stop admiring it like anything :)
Getting an e-book reader also made me look into various sources in the public domain where I could download books from and read to my heart's content. Here are some of them:
PdfGet.com, Pdfdrive.com
This is an open-source website that provides you access to thousands of books for free. These books can be downloaded in PDF and EPUB format and can be converted into any other format. One of the major plus points of this one is that, unlike other open-source sites, this also has the PDFs of the latest bestsellers too, ranging from fiction to non-fiction and has one of the largest collection of books out there.Project Gutenberg
Project Gutenberg is a certified website to get you access to thousands of books for free. However, it majorly has classics and old non-copyrighted books so if you want to read classics, this is the best place to go. But, this won't have a lot of stuff for people who prefer contemporary reads.Librivox
Librivox is a free audiobook streaming service and is easily accessible via the website and the app. It has a huge catalogue of books, majorly classics (and non-copyrighted stuff), but still it's a good go-to source for listening to some really good ones. It offers different versions of the same book by different narrators so you can choose your preferred one and plug it in!Audible (with Prime)
Audible is one of the largest and most famous audiobook streaming services by Amazon. One of the major advantages of using Audible is that all the books available on Amazon are almost always available on Audible so there are loads and loads of options to choose from. Prime members get a free 90-day trial as opposed to a 30-day regular trial.Archive.org / The Open Library
This is literally the largest available collection of free e-books in all formats (even audio). You can either download books or borrow them just like a real library!
Youtube
This is the most common platform we use for video streaming, and it doesn't come as a surprise that it has the largest library of audiobooks for free. Thanks to creators, narrators and voice-over artists, Youtube now is home to several audiobooks. All you need to do is search for it!
So that was all I had to offer. Let me know in the comments if you found these useful.
